We woke up with no plans this morning and decided to take a trip. By 9am we were out the door, headed to a place less than 30-minutes away that neither of us had been to since grade school.
Cummings Nature Center was a bit worse for the wear since we were ten-years-old, but it still held the same magic as when we were kids going on a field trip to watch the maple sugaring process.
J & K loved being outside on the cool morning.
And J even learned how to play "leap frog."
We walked along the Beaver trail, which took us out to what used to be a pond created by a beaver dam. The beavers headed off to greener pastures (or ponds?) when Mark and I were still in Elementary school, but the pond remains and there are plenty of turtles and frogs still.
We also checked out the pioneer trail, with an authentic log cabin and the maple sugar shack. We didn't stay long in the shack- there were BATS!!!!!!
